Yadana Project
Total operates the Yadana gas field with a 31.2% interest. Commercial production began in 2000, with an expected field life of 30 years. The Yadana gas field is located in the Andaman Sea, approximately 60 kilometers offshore the nearest landfall in Myanmar.
The gas is supplied to Thai power plants and is also sold in Myanmar’s domestic market. The gas is transported onshore via a 346-kilometer subsea pipeline. A 63-kilometer onshore pipeline then carries it to the Thai border.
The pipeline region had approximately 50, 000 inhabitants at the end of 2009. The inhabitants of the 13 villages closest to the pipeline area have been covered by the socio-economic program since 1995. Since then, another 12 villages have been added. |
