The company is managed by professionals under the able leadership of Dr. V. Krishnamurthy, who was responsible for the turnaround of industrial giants like BHEL, SAIL, and the dynamic progress of Maruti. As the Indian sub-continent builds itself anew, as a global economic power in diverse areas, India Meters is also gearing up with fresh strategies to stay ahead in the competitive environment. India Meters' factory is located on 10 acres of land in the Ambattur Industrial Estate, Chennai and is eco-friendly in its operations. IML has a separate division at Bangalore to manufacture electronic meters for meeting domestic and export needs. All the testing equipment and products are periodically checked and tested by Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), Bangalore and National Physical Laboratory (NPL), New Delhi. As a measure of backward integration, the Bearing magnets system for energy meters are manufactured by Magnetic Meter System (India) Ltd., a subsidiary of India Meters, which was setup in collaboration with Max Baermann GmBH, Germany at Pondicherry. This makes IML the first company in India to manufacture bearing magnets. A large chain of sales offices, marketing and customer service centres throughout the country adds to the inherent strength of India Meters. With an overwhelming success in the domestic industrial scenario with substantial percentage of the Indian market in its grasp, India Meters is in the process of expanding aggressively in the international market.
