Mahindra Engineering & Chemical Products Ltd., an ISO-9001 certified company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. It has two divisions : M-Seal Division is engaged in Manufacturing & Marketing of products for Energy Sector. Engineering Division is a major manufacturer of Material Handling Equipments. Mahindra Engineering & Chemical Products was established in 1964 and commenced its activities in 1965. The annual turnover now exceeds MINR 350 and an employee strength of 95. Jan 1964, for Cable jointing and termination, Cast Iron Boxes were used. MECP were the pioneers to introduce Cast Resin Joints under the brand name " M-SEAL" and have grown to keep pace with the changing market needs. In 1980, when XLPE cables were introduced in the Indian market, MECP were the pioneers to introduce cable accessories for XLPE cables. To update technology, MECP entered into a technical collaboration with ABB Kabeldon, Sweden, which enabled the Company to manufacture State-of-the-art premoulded terminations for XLPE Power cables. The Company also manufactures Arc Chamber Housings and Operating Rods for SF-6 circuit breakers. These are very specialised import substitution items and the company commands 70 % of the market share. The Company has Branch Offices in all important cities of India to provide customer support. It has a network of more than 100 distributors so that products are freely available in all the parts of the country. The company has well equipped Government recognised R & D facilities where continous work goes on for the improvement and innovation of the products based on market feedback.
