Description : FDC, formerly known as Fairdeal Corporation, is in the field of healthcare for more than five decades. With a modest beginning in 1936 trading vitamins and a range of formulations, FDC made available for the first time in India, the lifesaving antibiotic - penicillin.
FDC set up its first plant for the manufacture of formulations in 1949, and pioneered the manufacture of ophthalmic formulations in India, in the year 1963.
In 1972, FDC initiated the concept of Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) in India. Today, its brand 'Electral', commands more than 75% market share in this segment. An impressive achievement.
The manufacture of bulk drugs at Roha plant (Maharashtra) commenced in 1978. Since then FDC has to its credit a number of new molecules, introduced for the first time in India. For the development of Flurbiprofen and Timolol Maleate, FDC has been awarded the "National Award for R&D effort in the industry" by the Department of Scientific Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India. The Roha bulk drug manufacturing plant has been approved by the United States FDA and also has the WHO certification.
FDC, all along has emphasized on being "committed to quality" and has also received a Quality Excellence Award from "Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association" (IDMA) for two successive years, viz. 1993 and 1994.
FDC also has to its credit the introduction of Soya-based infant nutritional formulae, for infants with lactose intolerance. Once again, this was a first for India, during the early eighties.
Today, FDC has its presence in a number of segments such as ANTIBIOTICS, DERMATOLOGICALS, RESPIRATORY, HAEMATINICS, and is the undisputed leader in ORS and OPHTHALMOLOGICAL segments. FDC has a strong brand equity by virtue of its
products viz. ELECTRAL, VANMYCETIN, PYRIMON and MYCODERM, which are household names in India.
Besides domestic marketing, we at FDC export almost 75% of our Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), to a number of countries including advanced countries like USA, Canada, Europe and Japan. FDC has also exported one million packs of ORS to Rwanda, for a noble cause, and FDC continues to export millions of ORS sachets to a number of countries. |
