The belt filter press is a continuous-feed dewatering device that applies chemical conditioning, gravity draining, and mechanical pressure to dewater sludge. The sludge/slurry is sandwiched between tensioned belts and rolls, by passing those belts through a serpentine of decreasing diameter rolls to remove the moistures and then dispose of the sludge cake.
