Phenylacetone, (or phenyl-2-propanone, often referred to as P2P) is an organic compound. It is a clear oil with a refractive index of 1.5168.
APPLICATIONS :
Phenyl acetone is structurally related to coumarine or cinnamic acid for the application of rodenticide anticoagulant and to phenethylamine which is a main structure in the activity of the sympathetic nervous system.

Phenyl acetone is used as an intermediate to produce sympathomimetic amines such as phenbenzamine, phenyl isopropyl amine, amphetamine, prenylamine, pargyline and estramustine. Phenylacetone is called MDP2P (3, 4-methylenedioxy phenyl-2-propanone) which is used in the clandestine synthesis of MDMA (3, 4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine), commonly known as ecstasy.
