ARHANDICRAFT is a not for profit seeking organsiation founded in 1984, with the objective of supporting marginalised craft producers of the Tamil-villages around Auroville in Southern India.
Now, over the last two decades, though ARHANDICRAFT has its own manufacturing facilities which employ only women folk victimised by poverty, it has become the platform for fair trade and sustainable development helping other craft units too.
ARHANDICRAFT is working mainly with international fair trade partners like Oxfam Australia, One Village UK, De Evanaar Netherlands, who are members of IFAT ( International Federation for Alternative Trade ) as it believes strongly in Fair Trade.
It is also dedicated to find long-term solutions to poverty and social injustice in the village communities around Auroville. It has been working to eliminate the root causes of social and economic inequities by challenging the structural barriers that foster conflict and human suffering and limit people from gaining the skills, resources and power to become self-sufficient.
ARHANDICRAFT gives you the assurance that every product purchased is handmade by disadvantaged people whose livelihood depend on us to provide them better sustainable well-being.
ARHANDICRAFT is actively supporting and contributing to the "Auroville Child Development" Creche School in New Creation Community, Auroville.
