Anuradha inherited her sense of aesthetics from being born into a family of musicians and artists. She learnt the basics of Indian Handicrafts from her brother who has been working in the same line for the past 15 years. She is the daughter of the world-renowned classical guitarist, Pdt. Brijbhushan Kabra and her mother Mrs. Kamla Kabra is an artist too.

Having traveled the length and breadth of India is what gave Anuradha Kabra the idea of marketing Indian handicrafts. She has come a long way since 1999 when she started marketing these handicrafts through websites. Over the years, Anuradha, who has been collecting handicrafts from Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharashtra, Gujarat, UP and Pondicherry, says she received an order from Bahrain to make furniture, which led her to set up a unit in Jodhpur to make good quality reproduction furniture. Amiti India Bazaar has been successfully shipping furniture to its customers in Italy, Dubai, Austria, USA, Muscat and Doha for the last 6 years.

Anuradha’s latest addition to manufacturing is lamps and Clocks. “I design floor lamps from paper, cloth and different fabrics which are very new to the local customer and to my customers abroad,” she says. The clocks are made of Wood and Iron and are given different finishes to give them the old world charm. Clocks are designed as per the customer’s requirement too.

Anuradha wanted to give a platform to NGOs for the growth and survival of hand-made creations and is closely associated with Sahaj, an NGO based in DAHOD and aims at promoting the products of other NGO’s too.

The retail outlet in Mumbai, “Aesthétic” is located at 24 Bhoomi Classic, Link Road, Opp. InOrbit, Malad (W), Mumbai 400104, and in just a few months has earned a name for itself as a shop for great quality and uniqueness of products.

This shop stocks all kinds of handicrafts, from furniture to curtains to accessories and lamps available from Rs 25 to Rs 25,000. Anuradha manages the shop and the export business with the help and guidance of her husband Pritam Misra.
