Anaerobic Wastewater Treatment Technology -
The AqUASB (Up-flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) technology is based on the permanence of the bacteria into the reactor thanks to the granulation of the biomass.
It aggregates to granular particles of some millimetres, that sediment rapidly and remain in the reactor.
Wastewater enters the bottom of the reactor through the inlet distribution system. Soluble COD is rapidly converted into biogas and upward circulation is established.
The treated effluent flows at the top of the reactor into collection channels for discharge.
AqUASB plants are compact and modular, operating with high organic loads.
Advantages: Low sludge production, low energetic consumption, methane energy as by-product, low volume and space demand, (1/5 - 1/10 of the aerobic one), easy operation, rapid capital recovery, high treatment efficiency.
